My peripatetic childhood and experiences in different countries are part of the driving force behind my writing (not in the sense of ‘travel writing’, which doesn’t interest me at all, but in the fictions or interior landscapes they help me create). The other motivation is a love affair with language itself and the sheer act of reading and writing.

My poems and prose poems have appeared in public since 1975, but there were years when I was not writing at all. I am particularly excited that later this year a prose poem, Encoding, is due for publication in a USA anthology (Green Integer Books), which will also include two of my heroes, John Ashbery and Rosmarie Waldrop.
