Joanna was born in 1976 in ?ód?, Poland, where she also studied and worked for an IT company. This job took her to Sweden, first in 2001 and then in 2003. On each occasion she spent several months there, which gave her an opportunity for both - relishing the long days of Swedish summer and (not so much) enjoying the short and murky days of its winter.

In 2004 she moved to England (first to Nottingham and then to Lancaster). She works at the Polish school in Lancaster, teaching Polish language, literature, history and geography to under 10 year olds.
