For most of my life I lived in Poland and – although enjoyed travelling and already spent some time abroad – thought I would always live there. Since moving to the UK in 2004 I have become less resolute in making statements about the future. It was also in 2004 when I began to write. Having left my country I lost some of the safe familiarity of the language and the culture around me. This was a strong impulse to express my feelings and experiences in the creative form.

Needless to say, I write in Polish. I started with short stories and still am faithful to them. Short story as a form is fantastic: it’s extremely flexible and offers much freedom and space to experiment to a writer. There is still a lot to discover for me.
