Litfest are pleased to announce the publication of Malkin Child, by Livi Michael.
A powerful reimagining of the most famous witch trial in English history, suitable for ages 9+.
‘Malkin Child is an absolutely riveting read, so original and imaginative. It’s a novel about witchcraft that casts its own particularly powerful spell.’ Jacqueline Wilson
‘a taut and moving retelling of a notorious tale from our past… a timely reminder of the power of words and the evil that can be done with them.’ Martyn Bedford
Jennet’s family all believe they are witches. Other folk think they are, too. But 1612 is a dangerous time to be a witch. When her family are imprisoned and put on trial in Lancaster Castle, Jennet’s evidence will help decide their fate.
Malkin Child is published on the 18th August 2012 to coincide with the 400 year anniversary of the Lancashire Witch Trials.
