Sleeping with Walt Disney had its first incarnation as a monologue I wrote for a Lancaster Spotlight Competition, timed out just as I got to the last paragraph. I’ve been doing some research into cryogenics, its appeal, its societies in the US where whole families are encouraged to join and its use of cauldrons full of dry ice. So the story’s now regenerating into a play.
I’ve always been obsessed with death and the has-been: those individuals who just don’t know when to stop. When not being influenced by Wilde and the fin de siecle and all things bohemian. Joe Orton, Sarah Kane and popular culture are also an influence; lots of other things besides.
