Writing from Art

Writing from Art: Uncertainty in the City with Ian Seed

Thursdays 23rd and 30th September, 7th, 14th, 28th October and 4th November 7-9pm

Snæbjörnsdóttir/Wilson Snæbjörnsdóttir/Wilson

The Poetry Bookcase and Storey Gallery, at Storey Creative Industries Centre, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster LA1 1TH

Are you afraid of dark spaces? What do you feel about animals that wander through the streets at night? Have you ever stumbled across a fox or a badger just outside your door?  Or discovered rats in your loft?  Is there a clear boundary between pet and pest? Do animals encroach on our spaces, or is it we who encroach on theirs? Could we ever celebrate a sense of shared space with those who have become strangers to us?

In response to the Storey Gallery autumn art exhibition, we will explore these and other fascinating questions through discussion and the writing of either poetry and prose.

There will be a complementory guided talk with the curator of the exhibition, Suzy Jones, on Thursday 21st October for all participants.
